How it works

A percentage of the total cost of each order will be donated to association dedicated to the conservation of marine species & ocean care.

 

 

"Mexico azul was born in 2010 as a non-profit Mexican association dedicated to the conservation of marine habitats and species.

We seek union & alliance with different entities in order to be able to impact public policies, promote awareness through education & generate relevant scientific information, which help us achieve a change in our seas & oceans.

We are a grantee authorized by the Tax Administration System". 

México Azul mission: "Preserve habitats and threatened marine species in Mexican waters, through research, citizen science & education. We focus on the protection of sharks, marine megafauna & in cooperation with fishing communities for a more conscious use of marine resources".

Why mexico

"México is privileged for its geographical position as it is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of California, the Gulf of México & the Caribbean Sea, 62% of the country is sea.

 

It has a large number of islands & islets, bringing a great wealth of ecosystems & a great importance of marine species to the world.

Marine ecosystems are one of the main sources of food for humans. Mexico has a large part of the species that inhabit our seas, with shrimp, tuna, red snapper, mullet, grouper & sardine being the most consumed species. However, more than 230 species from the Gulf of Mexico, 95 species from the Caribbean Sea & 240 from the Pacific Ocean, are exploited for consumption.

Despite the important role of marine ecosystems, they constantly face problems due to human activities, such as resource exploitation, contamination due to organic & inorganic waste, introduction of exotic species, unregulated tourist activities, illegal fishing & development of urban areas".
